RPCS Tip: Electronic Versions of Data and Reports

Many clients request to have more access to electronic versions of data and reports, instead of using so much paper to print them.  Now our standard reports has a “view” option, so reports can be opened as a Text file in Notepad.  Also, anything that can be printed in RPCS can be opened and saved as a Text file.

To access your printouts as a text file, outside of the standard “view” option of our reports, you just need to send your print job to a “Hold” file, then use the a “VR” or “VIEW-REPORT” option from TCL to open them up to Notepad.

You will need to assign your session to a “Hold”, not “Print”, status.  After printing your report make note of the “Hold” Entry# that displays on the screen, (which may require scrolling up a page in your CU•Emulate session to view it), then use either of the following commands at TCL:

>VR
Or
>VIEW-REPORT

Typing one of these commands, then hitting Enter, will bring up a prompt to input the Entry#.  Type in the Entry#, then hit Enter for your report to open up in Notepad.

For those who are familiar with Recall, you can also access any Select statement output to a Text file.  You’ll still need to assign your session to a “Hold” and not “Print” status first, then when you are using the “LIST” command on a statement, you can just add “(P” to the end of the statement  to print out your output to a Hold file.  Once that is done, just use the VR or VIEW-REPORT command with your Entry# to access your List.  (Ex:  “LIST ACCOUNT 1 NAME1 15 16 TOTAL-BAL (P” , then ”VR”).

You can save or archive these electronic versions of your documents or even e-mail them out, so others can benefit from them.  Plus, think of all of the paper you can save.

If neither of these commands works, then the program isn’t set up on your system, yet.  If you would like to get this program set-up please contact your RevQ support representative at 866.684.7387.
